NOTE:
A "renowned institution“ (awarded a 10 in our case) is an institution mentioned as a top 500 university on one of the 3 following ranking lists: Shanghai Ranking, Times Ranking and the QS University World Ranking.
For degrees issued on continents like Asia, Africa or Latin America, regional ranking lists are also consulted to assess the institution better. European public (and official) universities are, in principle, always granted a 10.
An average institution (granted a 5) is one that is not mentioned as a top 500 university on any of these 3 above-mentioned lists) and, for Asia, Africa and Latin America, one that is not ranked high on the regional rankings.
Private unofficial institutions or very weak universities do not have to be scored at all, as graduates from such institutions are already traced down during the Diploma Advise procedure and considered as ineligible for the Programme.
