Visiting Guidance - Public Health Nurse
With the recent changes in guidance which mean that garden visits are allowed, visits to care homes can be arranged with appropriate measures in place:
The visits take place outdoors in an area where social distancing can be and is maintained – access to the area should be considered, and whether this is possible without entering the building, and how distancing is maintained during the visit (e.g. use of a table, positioning of chairs)
A member of staff should be present for the duration of the visit, at a 2m distance
Temperature checks and hand hygiene will be performed prior to the visitor joining the resident, and visitors are aware not to visit if they are unwell or have any household members who have had symptoms or tested positive in the previous 14 days
There are no symptomatic residents or cases at the home. If this changes visiting arrangements will be reviewed.
Only 1 visit will be allowed at a time, pre-booked and with a specific time slot during the day when manager/senior staff are available, and restricted to 2 people from the same household
Inline with guidance only 1 visitor will be allowed if resident or visitor are in the shielding group
PPE is not required if 2 metre distance is maintained – the home may require this to be worn by visitors as an added precaution
