  • THIS IS A SIDE EVENT TO SISTERS IN CARS SCANDINAVIA CONFERENCE
  • 29 March 2023

    18:15 - 19:30
  • POLESTAR SPACE - Øvre Slotts gate 7, Oslo

    WHERE
  • Sisters in Cars Scandinavia wants to contribute to transparency, initiative, and collaboration in the automotive- and associated industries. Several women in top positions say that they have left the industry because they did not see a future there, due to a lack of challenges or lack of role models and/or mentors they could relate to. As the industry has so far been male dominated, it is the obvious explanation.

Our wish in connection with Sisters in Cars conference (SICS22 - Oslo) is to create a mentoring program for women in the car industry (and related industries), and we are now looking for both mentors and mentees. Through the program, you will have the opportunity to develop personally and professionally, through exchange of competence, expertise, values, perspectives, and attitudes. The program will connect people across roles and boarders, and will help build competence, as well as motivate and inspire - for both parties.

We want to welcome you to our first mentor and mentee meeting at Polestar Space (only a few minutes’ walk from Høymagasinet) Tuesday 29th of November at 18.15 to 19.15. We offer inspiration for further dialogue and time for a chat.

  • Diversity is necessary for growth, innovation, productivity, and for achieving sustainability goals. Today, there is also an enormous digital transformation that opens many opportunities and challenges, and here diversity is essential for success. That is why it is disturbing that, for example, nine out of ten people who work in the car industry in Norway are men. At a time when we are pushing boundaries to innovate and ensure more sustainable mobility for the whole world, there is a crying need for qualified labor. It is high time to work strategically and purposefully to recruit not just from half of, but from all employees.

Science shows that girls often get inspired by people like them self. They need female role models, with whom they can identify. Good female role models can break down stereotypes and help open the eyes to opportunities within various fields and career paths. To reach everyone, the role models must represent a wide variety of directions and choices.
