Child Protection Summary
Lurgan Esox Club has a moral and legal obligation to ensure that young people participating in their sport can do so in a safe and equal environment. All club members must ensure that they give the highest standard of care and act in accordance with the club’s child protection policy.
Lurgan Esox Club will ensure that…
- The welfare of the child is paramount, all children and vulnerable adults whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs and/or sexual identity, have the right to be protected from abuse.
- All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to appropriately.
- All members have a responsibility to report concerns of abuse to the club’s Child Protection Officer.
Lurgan Esox Club Child Protection Officers
Lurgan Esox Club currently have 3 club members who have are certified in Child Protection, and have an appointed a Child Protection officer on our committee. The 3 committee members responsible for the approval, review and implementation of the policy is Steven Manderson, Jonny Dowds and Trevor Johnston, who is the designated person in the club for the clubs Child Protection. The policy will be reviewed every 3 years.

At Lurgan Esox Club events and competitions there may be Photograph’s and Video’s captured which could/would be used for report outs on both the clubs social media and web page/pages.
Responding to allegations
It is not the responsibility of any Lurgan Esox Club member to decide whether or not abuse has taken place. However, it is their responsibility to act on concerns and allegations by referring them to the clubs child protection officer who will pass on details to the relevant authorities. Any concerns about suspected abuse occurring within the club or elsewhere must be reported to the clubs child protection officer.
Involvement
All Lurgan Esox Club’s members will be involved in the club’s activities. Which involves Angling and group interaction. The club would ask you to consider the nature of such sessions and discuss them with him/her. The club would ask that you are satisfied that he/she is sufficiently responsible and competent to assume responsibility for his/her safety under the supervision of Lurgan Esox Club members. The Club would ask that you understand that you will be kept informed of these activities. The club would ask that you understand in the event of injury or illness all reasonable steps will be taken to contact you, and to deal with that injury/illness appropriately. In view of these policies the club would ask that you accept that he/she can be photographed or filmed for club promotional purposes. The club would ask that you agree that your child has consent to participate in these activities and that you further provide consent for Lurgan Esox Club to seek emergency treatment for your child if necessary. The club would finally ask you to accept financial responsibility for any subsequent costs related to this treatment.
All Lurgan Esox Club members have been informed and signed off on an understanding of the club’s Child Protection Policy, along with any other person who is involved with the organisation.
