  • F. LANGUAGES

We want you to get the most out of your time at Holmsted Manor. There will be lots to take in.   Which languages do you speak, in order of fluency?

  • If English isn’t your native language or main language spoken at home. There is a simple online test that we ask you to do (it’s free and only takes 5-10 minutes).  This will help us to support you during your DTS. Please use the Holmsted Manor personnel email address, with your full name when you complete the test so that your results come through.

  • J. CHRISTIAN AND LIFE EXPERIENCE

Please answer these confidential questions which will help to support you throughout this journey of serving and exploring mission.

Please feel free to write as much as you think we would need to know to challenge, inspire and equip you to get the most out of your time here at Holmsted Manor.  The text boxes are not limited on character length.

  • 2. FAMILY MEMBERS

  • YWAM's foundational value #15 is Value Family. "YWAM affirms the importance of families serving God together in missions, not just the father and/or mother. We encourage the development of strong and healthy family units, with each member sharing the call to missions and contributing their gifts in unique and complementary ways."

Because of this we ask that married couples would do the course together with their dependants where applicable.  We have limited accommodation for those who would like to volunteer short-term with children.

  • SPOUSE INFORMATION

Due to accommodation and visa restrictions/requirements, we require that both spouses submit complete application forms for processing.

  • Please nominate three referees who we can contact to give you a character reference - they cannot be your family members.

      1. Mature Christian Friend Reference*  - Someone who is mature in their faith, understands your spiritual journey, has challenged you and wants to see you grow. - Should be mature Christians who have known you well (where you’re doing well & where you need to grow)
      2. Church Leader Reference - We understand that many people go to large churches and so the most senior pastor might not be the best person to write you a reference. Therefore, this could be your missions pastor, youth leader, bible study leader etc
      3. Employer/teacher/ -  should have observed you in a work/course capacity.

If your employer/teacher has not known you for two years or longer, please nominate an additional mature Christian friend reference.

     CRIMINAL OFFENSES

YWAM England and Wales, as an agency working with children and young people, is exempt from the UK Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and therefore applicants must declare all previous convictions.

  • Youth With A Mission has a long tradition of working with children, young people, families and vulnerable adults.  As a multigenerational community, we take seriously our responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults throughout their association with us.

Due to the nature of the living environment for most of our YWAM teams, with staff and families with small children living in close proximity or working directly with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults, we need to also ask you to complete and sign self-declaration form (below).

You are also legally required to have a DBS check/Police Check and you won’t be permitted to participate in doing any ministry or outreach until you have successfully obtained one.  This is fairly straight forward and there are clear instructions on how to do it.Once we recieve your application we will send you the details of how to apply for the appropriate Police Record Check. Please email the registrar if you'd like to start that process now (it can take some time).

  • * DBS Filtering Rules and DBS Filtering Guidelines

  • To help us ensure that we are complying with all relevant safeguarding legislation, please complete the following declaration.

    SAFEGUARDING DECLARATION

I consent to a criminal records check if appointed to the position for which I have applied. I am aware that details of pending prosecutions, previous convictions, cautions, or bindovers against me will be disclosed along with any other relevant information, which may be known to the police.

I understand that, if I am a UK resident, a check will be made with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and that it is an offence for any person to commence Regulated Activity without first providing a valid DBS Disclosure. If I am an overseas resident, I understand that I will need to provide a police check from my home nation.

I agree to inform the person within the YWAM base/team responsible for processing application for Disclosure and Barring Service checks if I am convicted of an offence after I take up any post within YWAM England. I understand that failure to do so may lead to the immediate suspension of my work with children or vulnerable adults and/or the termination of my work/training and association with YWAM.

I agree to inform the person within YWAM responsible for processing applications for the Disclosure and Barring Service if I become the subject of a police and/or a social services/(Children’s Social care or Adult Social Services)/social work department investigation. I understand that failure to do so may lead to the immediate suspension of my work with children or vulnerable adults and/or the termination of my work/training and association with YWAM.

I confirm that I am not barred from working with children/vulnerable adults.

  • COMMITMENT

I have completed all portions of this application truthfully and to the best of my knowledge, and if accepted by Youth With A Mission Limited, I will, under God, abide by the spirit, authority and schedule of the programme.

I confirm that YWAM Holmsted Manor asks for a contribution of £45 per week of my stay with them. I therefore undertake to pay all personal expenses during my involvement with YWAM.

    TERMINATION OF INVOLVEMENT

Youth With A Mission Limited reserves the right to terminate my involvement with them, if I am found to have misled YWAM in any way or if my conduct is prejudicial to the good running of the school or to the reputation of YWAM. I have read this from and accept the terms set in it.

  • CONSENT FOR TREATMENT IN AN EMERGENCY PROVISION

In the event that I am unable to sign a consent form due to incapacity, I hereby give my consent for any treatment/medical intervention deemed necessary by the attending health care professionals. Whilst YWAM will make every effort to contact my next of kin/emergency contacts, there may be situations where this is not possible. I, therefore, give permission for YWAM to act in my best interests. I recognize that in an emergency situation it is standard operating procedure to always act in the interest of preserving life.

    RELEASE OF LIABILITY

Though every effort is made to provide a safe environment, Youth With A Mission Limited, their trainees, agents, employees and volunteer assistants are insured against loss or injury caused by the negligence of Youth With A Mission Limited. In the absence of any negligence or other breach of duty by Youth With A Mission Limited, participation in a Youth with A Mission Limited organised programme, event or outreach is entirely at the participant’s own risk.

Accordingly participants are required to have adequate medical insurance for all phases of their involvement with Youth With A Mission Limited.

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, 2018), the information provided on my application form will be held securely, confidentially and will not be kept for longer than is necessary to achieve the stated purposed of recruitment, selection, supplementary personal details and statistics, or that required by law or our insurance company.
