Light Artists: Proposals & Commissions for HeckmondLIGHT 2016
Creative Scene and the Heckmondwike Community Alliance invite light artists and organisations to submit project proposals for HeckmondLIGHT 2016 which will take place from 16.00hrs on Saturday 26th November 2016.
We will commission 3-7 new proposals, with fees of between £500 and £3,000 to animate the park and public space in the build up to the light switch on.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for new or existing work that can be adapted or developed to create an exciting, interactive environment for people to explore over a 4 hour period, during the build up to the Light Switch on and afterwards. Projects could be installations or performance-based, for a fixed location or roaming.
We welcome applications that include an element of engagement or outreach in the build up to the event, for example, with local shop keepers, shoppers, schools and will support artists to engage with relevant groups and will look to make at least one award that supports community participation.
Advice on available locations will be given to short–listed applicants.
The Site
The Green Park area is mainly grassed with tarmac-ed pathways threading throughout the park. There is a small band stand with hard paving to the front; and a central gazebo which encloses a grass arena. Note that the site is boarded on all sides by roads, and care will need to be taken to avoid any disruption or interference to traffic. Google Map
