B&B / Guesthouse Acceptance Criteria
The premises / risk to be insured:
- Is in a good state of repair and regularly maintained
- Is of standard construction (Built of brick, stone or concrete and roofed with slates, tiles, asphalt, metal or concrete)
- Must not have been previously flooded, be located in an area which has previously flooded or be particularly exposed to flood damage
- Must never have shown signs of subsidence, heave or landslip, coastal or river erosion or be located in an area exposed to such damage
- Must not have more than 12 bedrooms available for paying guests
- Must meet the minimum security requirements of the policy
- Must not have any other commercial activity taking place on the premises
- Must not accommodate DSS / Asylum Seekers
- Must not be licensed for the sale of alcohol
The proposer or any director, partner or principal of the business:
- Must NEVER have been convicted of or charged with (but not yet tried for) any criminal offence, (other than a motor offence)?
- Must NEVER have been refused insurance, had special terms or conditions imposed, or had insurance cancelled or renewal refused?
- Must NEVER have been made bankrupt or entered into a bad debt arrangement with creditors?
- Must NOT, in the past 5 years, have incurred any claims, losses or had any incidents (whether reported to insurers or not), or if in business for a period of less than 5 years must NOT have incurred any claims during that period?
