    Short Term Mission Support

  • As a church we want to partner with and encourage you as you serve God on your short term mission project, whether it is a two week CSSM team in Northern Ireland or a three month mission trip to South Africa. We also expect you to participate in the process by keeping us informed of your travel plans, staying in contact whilst completing your project (where possible), and debriefing us on your return.

If you are planning on taking part in a short-term mission trip, please complete this form which will allow us to understand your plans and support you effectively, through prayer, financial assistance, and the provision of a carer for your time away.

  • One of the church's commitments to short-term mission involves providing financial assistance.  This could be up to 30% of your total costs but please be aware that we consider applications on a case-by-case basis, and we will meet with you in person in order to discuss your financial requirements.

  • Referee

  • If you have been attending SBC for less than 12 months, please provide the name and contact details of someone within the church who knows you well.  (If you have been attending for more than 12 months, please leave blank or enter N/A in the boxes below)

  • Carers

  • Please suggest two people from within the church family at SBC who we could approach to act as your carer.  Please ensure that these individuals are of the same gender as you, and are NOT members of your family.

Your carer will meet with you before and after your trip, and will endeavour to support you spiritually for the duration of your project.  They will also commit to praying for you regularly.

  • Prayer Support

  • Please provide some details below that will allow us as a team and the wider church family to pray for you, both as you prepare for your project and whilst you are completing it.

This may include things you are excited/anxious about, how you are hoping to grow spiritually or what you hope to learn, or specific prayer points about the people/culture/environment you will be working in

  • Other Information

  • All summer projects (between May and September) will be commissioned collectively during a morning Sunday service in early June.  A feedback service will be held on a Sunday evening in September where we will have the opportunity to hear from several of you about your experiences.  Please make every effort to attend both events where possible.

Once you have submitted this form, a member of the ACTS team will get in touch with you to have a short chat about your plans and discuss any of your needs in person.  If your placement is for more than three months, you will need to attend a longer interview with a member of the team, as you are likely to require additional support if away for an extended period of time.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please email acts@sbchurch.co.uk or speak to a member of the team.
