• Welcome

If you are interested in living in cohousing in the UK, you're in the right place.  Fill out the form below and join the KIN community.

It can be an overwhelming process to, literally, build a community. At KIN, our aim is to bring people together around community housing projects. We have the expertise and support needed to make things happen, be that design, finance, securing land or providing general advice.

Your information will help us connect you with others also interested in cohousing. Together we can demonstrate to local councils and financiers that there is a genuine demand for cohousing, enabling us to collectively secure the kinds of sites required to deliver the homes and communities you want to live in.

At present we are specifically looking at London, Bristol and Exeter.  However, if there is sufficient interest in other areas, then we are happy to explore those too.

  • Household & community

All coushousing has something in common, but there can be differences in people's idea of what makes an ideal community or neighbourhood.  The questions below try to give us an idea of what kind of community you’re looking for.

  • Resources

    Nearly there...

It is a significant undertaking to create a community housing scheme, especially if the project includes building new homes. The process involves forming a community group and agreeing the brief, raising funding, securing a site, designing a scheme, gaining planning permission, completing the technical design, and then constructing the homes and shared spaces. The process usually takes a number of years from start to finish, so it’s useful to know a bit about your timeline and resources.

  • Personal data

Your personal data privacy is important to us.

We will use the information you share to help create or find the right community for you. We’ll be in touch by email to keep you up-to-date on progress and tell you about the community events we are running.

We may share some of your information with other potential community members, or potential collaborators on your project. This may be in discussions, at events, and/or via online platforms/groups for the communities we are working with. We will not share your financial information with anyone, without further explicit permission to do so.

We will never sell or divulge any of your information to uninvolved third parties. We will not share your financial information with anyone, without further explicit permission to do so.  When financial matters need to be discussed (e.g. with banks and investors) information will be aggregated and/or made anonymous (eg: 'the community we are working with has...').
