Certain posts are exempt from the above Act by virtue of the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) order 1975. This means because you may be working with younger people or with vulnerable adults, that should you be offered a post this will not be confirmed until a Disclosure and Barring Service has been made. The check will include details of cautions, reprimands or final warnings as well as convictions.
Because of the nature of the work and clients we support no convictions will be considered as spent and all should be declared. Having a criminal record would not necessarily exclude you. Failure to disclose a criminal conviction on this application form will mean you will not be offered the position and any offer of employment will be withdrawn.
