Coaching Process
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and Texas who has extensive experience working with a variety of clients. I have worked with adolescents, women, men, and families for fifteen years in various centers and school settings. I also specialize in working with the family, friends, and associates of competitive/professional athletes. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Psycho-Social Development from Rollins College and my Masters in Counseling from Rollins College as well. When working with clients, I strive to meet people where they are and work to build a collaborative relationship to help them achieve their goals, increase self-awareness, confidence, mindfulness, and insight. When practicing a holistic approach, my philosophy is to help clients find balance in all areas of their lives.
Even though counseling approaches and techniques are used throughout the coaching experience, it is important to note that coaching differs from counseling. Coaching is more focused on helping you enhance your present life through a coaching partnership rather than focusing on past dysfunction. Coaching is designed to assist you in exploring and developing the life skills that you desire. Each person comes to the coaching experience with unique strengths and expectations. I am committed to tailoring the coaching relationship to meet your individual needs. It is important that the coach and client be compatible and work as partners, so open and honest communication is essential.
Although the purpose of counseling/coaching is to help clients “feel better,” it is important to be aware that it is not uncommon to experience intense feelings such as anger, sadness, fear, anxiety, or guilt at times during the counseling process. Identifying and “bringing up” painful feelings/thoughts can sometimes lead to uncomfortable feelings. Discussing and processing these experiences during the coaching sessions are an important part of the coaching process.
Appointments and Fees
The rate for each session is $200.00. Payment is due at the end of each session unless an agreement has been made prior to the session. There is a charge for missed appointments and appointments cancelled with less than a 24 hour notice. A $75.00 fee is charged for appointments missed and/or cancelled less than 24 hours in advance unless there is an emergency.
All other services, including telephone consultations, Skype or FaceTime sessions, text messages, letters, and phone consultations are billed at the same hourly rate.
I do not accept or bill any insurance. Upon request, I am willing to provide you with the needed information for you to submit to your insurance company, however, payment in full is still due at time of service and I make no guarantees that your insurance will reimburse you.
CONFIDENTIALITY
It is my obligation and responsibility to hold all information about the client in strictest professional confidence. Coaching-Client communication/information is privileged and is kept in highest confidence. It is important to note, however, that there are several exceptions to confidentiality of which you should be aware:
Exceptions to Confidentiality:
When a client threatens harm or death to herself/himself or another person, I am legally, ethically, and morally required to take action to protect the safety of the threatened person. Actions include, but are not limited to: informing the intended victim, arranging hospitalization for the client, notifying family or support system, or alerting law enforcement.
When abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child, elder, or disabled person is known or suspected, I am required by law to report this information to the Department of Children and Families.
When I receive a court order from a judge for counseling records, for deposition, or for court testimony, I am required to comply.
For ALL clients---Should an emergency situation arise (including suicidal or homicidal ideation/intent) and you cannot get in touch with me right away, please call the 24 hour LIFELINE crisis number: 988, call 1-800-273-8255, call 911, or go to any hospital emergency room for any/all emergency needs.
