Thank you for your interest in joining the Hatsumi Chronic Pain Focus Group.
We are seeking 8 participants to join a series of focus groups exploring the lived experience of chronic pain and how to communicate that experience with healthcare professionals. We want to hear about your personal experiences of chronic pain and ways to improve communication and support through novel approaches using creative arts and emerging technologies.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be over 18 years old
- Have lived with chronic pain over three years
- Must be based in the UK
Dates
The focus groups will be taking place on the following dates:
Monday 10th August 2-4.30pm
Thursday 17th August 2-4.30pm
Monday 12th October 2-4.30pm
Benefits
Through joining a series of workshops, you will help us frame the problem and shape the development of this research, which could ultimately go on to help you and other people suffering from chronic pain. Through and following the workshops, we will share our research, and hopefully, you will gain insight into new approaches for understanding the experience of pain.
To thank you for your contribution, you will be paid £30 for each two-hour workshop. We will be offering a total of 3 workshops, and hope that attendees can attend all three.
These workshops will prompt people to reflect on their own lived experiences of chronic pain and anxiety in a group setting. If the idea of this makes you feel uncomfortable then it might not be the right focus group for you. We will have a clinical psychologist on hand to support people if they require additional support.
How will it work?
- We will let people know if they have been selected by Friday 7th August
- We will run the first two workshops remotely using Jitsi, an open-source end-to-end encrypted video conferencing tool. A third face to face workshop will be scheduled depending on social distancing guidelines.
- Each workshop will last 2 hours and we ask you to stay for the full duration.
- We will ask you to read an information sheet and sign a consent form to participate. All the information collected is confidential and fully anonymised.
- If you wish to, we will keep you informed about how the research is developing.
