#ScotArt is a nationwide youth engagement project that is asking young people - what do you love about your region? what makes your region unique? what symbol best represents your region of Scotland?
This Autumn, Young Champions will co-lead workshops with our Art Facilitator in 14 regions of Scotland, engaging young people in discussion and creative sessions. The creative session will involve participants getting a chance to make wicker/wire hearts and use stencils & spraypaints. The Art Facilitator will be supported in the creative session by a Young Artist from that region.
The result of the workshop will be the participants choosing a symbol to represent their region, which our Art Facilitator will make into an incredible wicker sculpture. The 14 wicker sculptures will be at the forefront of the Edinburgh Torchlight Procession on 30 December, symbollically bringing the Year of Young People to a close.
Prior to this workshop, the Young Artists will be invited to attend a training day in which they will be trained in the methods and materials being employed and workshop facilitation, so they can assist during the creative session of the workshop. This opportunity should appeal to anyone with an interest in visual arts and wants to develop their skills further.
We ask that Young Artists are able to devote 2 days to this project. One day for training with our Art Facilitator, and the other for the regional workshop.
We're looking for 1 Young Artist (aged 16-26) from each of the following regions:
Borders
Dumfries & Galloway
Fife
Highlands & Western Isles
Orkney & Shetland (Orkney Islands, Shetland Islands)
Renfrewshire (East Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, Renfrewshire)
Tayside (Angus, Dundee, Perth & Kinross)
We look forward to hearing from you.
