    • Parents/family members that have never given up ensuring that their children, or others, have the care and support needed.
    • Civil servants that have worked at a strategic level to improve services for children with SLCN.
    • Celebrities that have raised awareness and campaigned successfully for positive change.
    • Politicians that have ensured government policies reflect the important of speech, language and communication development.

    • New ways of working that are achieving tremendous results; for example adopting a strong multi-disciplinary approach to commissioning services, or evidence of user involvement.
    • Effective approaches to capturing the impact of their product, research or service.
    • A forward looking approach for their innovative work with the aim of engaging service users in the future.

    The winning journalist or team of journalists will be deemed to have provided outstanding coverage on children and young people with SLCN and helped raise awareness of this important issue to their readers / listeners / followers etc.

    This could include:

    • Coverage raising the profile of SLCN among children and young people – explaining clearly what the issue is, how it impacts, the support currently available and what needs to improve to make a difference to children and young people’s lives
    • Case study style coverage interviewing children and young people with SLCN and their families
    • Coverage which has been seen to make an impact i.e. increase in fundraising, increase in awareness of an event, celebrity backing etc.
