    Job Description

     

    Purpose of Job

    • You will be expected to contribute to children’s development through play, encourage positive behaviour relationships with children and their parents/carers.
    • You will help to protect children by providing a nurturing and stimulating environment within Notre Dame Kids Club and Hyndland After School Club
    • You will work as part of a team, and will be expected to contribute to the development of your own skills and of other staff members.

    Responsibilities

    1. Staff planning and training

    • Participation in childcare shifts at Notre Dame and Hyndland.
    • Attendance at staff meetings.
    • Attendance at training sessions when appropriate and available.  (Qualifications will be undertaken for appropriate registration with SSSC*.) 
    • Suggest any new ideas/skills and contribute towards the introduction of new activities, outings, sports and any other areas within the Club.

    2. Activities

    • Planning activities.
    • Supervision of children. 
    • Preparation and participation in activities, e.g. baking, sports, arts and crafts. 
    • Responsible for daily duties such as setting up, preparing snacks, registration (ensuring all children are attending and reporting back to Senior Management Team any absences), cleaning, clearing away plus other duties as required.
    • Take part in any fundraising activities as appropriate.

    3. Liaison

    • Some liaison with parents and school staff as necessary.
    • Immediate reporting to member of Senior Management Team of any accidents and incidents.

    4. Health and safety

    • You will work with the manager to maintain a safe working environment for staff and children.
    • You will report any matters which may affect safety to Senior Management Team.
    • You will be expected to be familiar with the National Standards for Early Education and Childcare for children up to the age of 16, the SSSC Code of Practice for Employees, current Health and Safety legislation, the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, GIRFEC, SHINARRI and other legislation as appropriate (training will be given).
    • You will promote the health and safety of children within the Club.

    5. Confidentiality

    • You will be expected to respect the right to privacy of children, parents and staff within the Club.
    • You will treat all information received in confidence, and will not divulge personal or financial information obtained in the course of your work with third parties.

    6. HASC Code of Conduct

    • You will be expected to follow the Staff Code of Conduct at all times.

    7. Any other appropriate duties assigned by the Manager/Management Committee.

    Qualifications/Training • Willing to undertake required training in order to be registered with the SSSC* • SVQ Playwork level 2 or similar

    Experience • Working with children aged 4 to 12 • Working in an out of school care setting
