Questions from the Minister:
Experts have stressed the importance of attending pre-natal appointments, where blood pressure checks are taken to detect early signs of pre-eclampsia. What initiatives do we know have worked to reassure women to ensure they present early?
Besides encouraging early and regular presentation at hospitals, what other specific actions can be taken to tackle pre-eclampsia and ensure women are informed about the risks of hypertension?
I understand there is a test for pre-eclampsia (says whether a woman will get pre-eclampsia next 14 days), but this is not available in the devolved nations. In your expert opinions, how beneficial is this test? How feasible is it to make this available for all women across the UK?
How do you engage people by generating better knowledge/advice for those who may be at higher risk, even before they become pregnant?
Is pre-eclampsia an issue for the national government orwould action be better targeted in the unique, geographical capacity of NHS trusts?
Finally, If you were in the Experts Meeting 2020, please can you give us your feedback on the meeting
