• Arts by the Sea Festival Photographer

  • The Arts by the Sea Festival is a contemporary festival of combined arts that takes place in Bournemouth gardens, square and seafront. The 2021 festival takes place between Friday 27th to Sunday 29th September. This role will assist the Marketing Team by using own creative flair and technical skills to capture photographs throughout the running of the festival and behind the scenes. Shots to include a variety of images of the artists involved, installations, performances, landscapes and general public that can be used for future marketing of ABTS across all media platforms. You will be working closely with artists and members of the public so will be an advocate, promoting the festival through the collation of material to be used as marketing material for future years.

    We are looking for volunteers for a minimum of a four-hour shift between:

    12.00 noon and 10.00pm on Friday 1st October

    11.00am and 11.00pm on Saturday 2nd October

    11.00am and 10.00pm on Sunday 3rd October

    The volunteer role is to:

    • Work with, gain knowledge and expertise from, and assist the marketing team in ensuring that photography is taken of all performances and installations included in the programme and of the audience experiencing it

    • Gain knowledge and experience from the Marketing Team in relation to the logistical aspects of collecting clean, clear and effective shots of performances and the audience

    • Promote the festival encouraging people to attend and be photographed

    • Gain an understanding of festival objectives in relation to media collection

    Skills and qualifications required:

    • Over 18
    • Knowledge and experience of using a professional camera
    • Knowledge and basic understanding of photoshop
    • Able to make own travel arrangements (travel passes may be available)
    • Desire to help the Arts by the Sea Festival reach its goals
    • Commitment to your hours and to give us as much notice as possible if you can attend
    • To listen to and follow instructions from the festival team
    • Act and represent the Council in a suitable manner when wearing the Arts by the Sea festival uniform
    • Agree to work within BCP Council's values, policies and procedures as outlined in the volunteer policy
    • Attend induction training which is planned during September
