  • ICTYN seeks quality, diversity, and balance in its membership. Criteria for membership include intellectual achievement and expertise; degree of experience, interest and current involvement in counter-terrorism, security and defence amongst others; promise of future achievement; potential contributions to ICTYN’s mission; desire and ability to participate in ICTYN research projects; and standing among peers.

    We invite all who are conducting research, studying or working in applied policy making in any of the three thematic areas of terrorism, security, radicalization and violent extremism to apply to become an ICTYN member.

    If your application meets the requirements set out in the affiliation form, the ICTYN Staff will confirm your membership.

  • 1. Eligibility for Membership

  • Membership is open to all undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, PhD and post-doctoral students and also to researchers not pursuing an academic career with interests in, but not limited to, terrorism and counterterrorism, radicalization and violent extremism, international security and geopolitics.

    Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Information supplied will only be visible to ICTYN members and key project partners.

    There are three types of membership: Standard, Ambassador and Staff:

  • ICTYN Ambassadors act as promoters of the network's activities, helping to expand our presence on social media (by inviting friends and sharing our updates) and to find new people potentially interested in joining our community (students, young professionals and/or experts).

    ICTYN Staff members, instead, are those who actively collaborate with us in research and/or providing administrative/technical support.

  • ICTYN members are carefully screened and selected from a broader pool of applicants. The application consists of two parts:

    1. Complete and submit this application form along with a resume

    2. If you are successful with your application, complete the online registration

    Once we have assessed your application we will contact you with a decision about your eligibility for membership. We aim to provide a response within 14 working days.
