  • WORKSHOP LEADERS

    STEVE ATHERTON has been married to Anne for the last 37 years. His faith journey is long and torturous and he identifies with Jonah who tried to run away from God but failed. He has been the Justice and Peace field worker in the archdiocese for 13 years ago, having worked for over 30 years as a drama teacher in high schools in Wigan. He is very involved in adult faith formation in the archdiocese and beyond.

    JOHN BELL is a resource worker with the Iona Community, who lectures, preaches and conducts seminars across the denominations. He is a hymn writer, author and broadcaster, based in Glasgow. He works in the areas of music, worship and spirituality.

    AMY CAMERON works for the diocese of Hexham and Newcastle within Adult Formation and Evangelisation. Amy has a particular focus on the 25 – 55 year old church and she is developing approaches to ‘discipling’ this age group through Missions and a discipleship school called ‘In Pursuit’

    MAUREEN ROCHE. Is a retired teacher who has been active in the ministry of healing. She has worked with the Combonians [Verona Fathers] in their novitiate in Italy for a number of years in a pastoral capacity. She enjoys painting and writing poetry.

    LOUISE SWANSTON Louise Swanston, SSMN, is a Sister of St Mary of Namur. Trained in the mid-1990s by Jesuits at St Beuno's Spirituality Centre, North Wales, she has been involved in Ignatian spirituality ever since. She gives individually-guided retreats, the Full Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius (at St Beuno's and in daily life) and ongoing spiritual direction.

    JEAN WASHBOURNE trained as a Holistic Therapist. She worked in a Retreat Centre in the New Forest, organizing and leading retreats. She volunteers in a Primary School encouraging children’s creativity.

    MICHAEL WINSTANLEY is a Salesian of Don Bosco for seventeen years, has written ten books, given retreats, here in the UK and in several other countries. He has also been Provincial of the Salesians on two occasions.

    In order to help with the smooth running of the day, please choose your workshops by indicating your 1st and 2nd choice. Workshop space will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. There will be 2 talks each day by Peter McVerry.
