The meeting is about ways to improve the recruitment and retention of medical staff working at smaller hospitals, especially those that cater for rural populations. A range of approaches will be discussed, including changes to medical education and training, improvement to the workplace environment in smaller hospitals, changes to work practices, and different models for skill-mix. The meeting is open to clinicians, managers, academics and patient representatives.
The conference programme is available here.
The meeting is part of the larger Study of the Impact of Reconfiguration on Emergency and Urgent Care Networks (SIREN) project on hospital reconfiguration in Ireland which was funded by the Health Research Board. SIREN Website: https://www.ucc.ie/en/siren/
