Data Privacy Statement for Participants Logo
  • Data Privacy Statement for Participants

  • During the course of this study we will collect the following information in addition to the information you have provided on this form:

    • Responses to items on the assessment
    • Scores achieved on the assessment
    • Date of assessment session
    • Age on date of assessment session

We also automatically collect information transmitted by your browser when you complete assessments online. This includes your IP address, the date and time of the request, the web pages accessed, the access status/HTTP status code, the data volume transmitted at any one time, the website from which the request has come, your browser, your operating system and interface, as well as the language and version of the browser software. We will retain portions of this data for audit purposes.

How long will we retain data in a form that identifies you/your child?

    • The data you have provided on this form will be stored in an electronic file, which can only be accessed by the local Pearson project team.
    • We assign you/your child's name and any other personal data not included in analysis (e.g. your phone number, email address) an identification number at the beginning of the study. This data is stored in an electronic file, which can only be accessed by the Pearson project team and any contractors who are working on the project with us.
    • Information contained in your participation agreement and collected during this study will be attributable to you or your child for the duration of the study (typically about two years). After the research has been published, both the participation agreement and the electronic file containing the identification number are securely deleted, rendering the remaining data anonymous.
    • During the study your information may be accessed by the project team to check and verify results and to contact you with any queries.
    • Paper and digital forms used for obtaining results for the assessment are linked to the participant only by the participant’s identification number. Paper materials are stored for the duration of the study in a secure locked cabinet that can only be accessed by the local Pearson project team (who all have an enhanced DBS certificate). Once the assessment is published, paper materials are then destroyed securely after five years. Digital materials are stored for the duration of the study in a secure online folder that can only be accessed by the local Pearson project team (who all have an enhanced DBS certificate). Once the assessment is published, digital materials are then destroyed securely after five years.
    • The information used to generate the dataset for the research we are conducting contains the participant’s date of birth, gender, region, ethnicity, qualifications, and if applicable, any conditions, treatments, and identifications of 'gifted' status. The dataset also contains assessment responses and scores and is archived securely at the end of the study. The indefinite storage of this file is required to protect the quality of the product that has been developed.
    • We may use the raw scores and some demographics in an anonymised fashion in future product development and/or research.
    • If you express that you would like to be kept updated about future projects then we will retain your details on a secure electronic file, which can only be accessed by the Pearson project team, until you inform us that you would like them to be removed.

Who has access to your data?

Personal information is only available to the project team members who are located in the country where the product is being developed.
