Where possible please advise the construction of the walls being tested and any differences in construction methods between walls.

In order for us to carry out testing, please ensure that all of the following criteria are met prior to arrival.

Building work is complete?

Is there 240V or 110V power available in the dwelling?

External windows and doors will be hung and operable?

Internal doors will be hung and operable?

Adequate lighting is available, particularly in the test area?

Approved Document E stipulates that testing should be completed over a structural floor. Consent should be obtained from buiilding control if testing is to be completed over a soft floor covering such as carpet or foam-backed vinyl. Please see Building Regulations Approved Document E Annex B, section 2.13 for more detail.

Any impact tests performed over floor finishes (such as laminate flooring, tile, vinyl or carpet) will be clearly stated on the test report as a deviation from the standard test method.

We will require access to both sides of each wall and/or floor being tested. When testing required between adjacent properties, full access to all properties is essential. Please confirm there will be unhindered access and a clear space to work in all properties being tested.

Ideally, there will be no other trades, occupants or pets on site. This includes the properties to be tested and the outside areas around the properties. Will this be the case at your site?

Please confirm that no loud background noises will occur during the test procedure as they can affect our results. These includes large power tools, generators, petrol masonry cutters and HGVs.

Please confirm that for the duration of the testing each room being tested will be vacated by all people and pets.
