The Keynsham Good Citizen Award was set up by the Town Council in 2007 and is aimed at recognising those residents of Keynsham who give up their time to provide support, services, activities or other works which benefit both the town and residents.
In previous years, nominees had to be part of a local organisation who gave their time voluntarily. From this year people will be to nominate individuals in their own right and can nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to help the town in a professional capacity.
Nominations will also be considered for outstanding achievements in sports and culture and for activities that have led to the Town receiving national or international recognition.
There are three different categories:
- Young Citizen of the Year
For under 25s
- Good Citizen of the Year
For over 25s
- Lifetime Achievement Award
For outstanding long term service of the community
To qualify for an award the person must be a Keynsham resident and nominated by someone who is not a relative of the candidate. The nomination must also be seconded.
This year's nomination period ends on the Saturday 29th February 2020 after which the Council considers the nominations. Winners are then presented with a framed certificate and £100 for the charity/ group of their choice at the Annual Keynsham Town Meeting.
