IPCC AR6 Climate Change 2021:
Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability
The Working Group II contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report
Call for peer-reviewed review and synthesis papers on 'Mountains'
At the 46th session of the IPCC in Montreal in September 2017, the outline for the IPCC Working Group II contributon to AR6 was approved, which includes a Cross-Chapter Paper on "Mountains" (CCP-Mountains, 15 pages). The Working Group II contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report is currently underway, and will be finalized in 2021.
In order to facilitate the ongoing identification of key literature relevant for CCP-Mountains, MRI issues this call to the mountain research community to register key papers and studies published since March 2013 (since IPCC's Fifth Assessment Report, AR5). For papers currently under development, the key cut-off dates to consider are: 1) submitted by 1 July 2020; and 2) accepted for publication by 1 May 2021. These papers will be shared with the author team responsible for drafting the CCP-Mountains, which includes members of the MRI.
Publications that cover the following themes, ideally as review papers covering either a global or regional overview and/or comparing at least 2 mountain regions, are particularly encouraged:
Cross-Chapter Paper 5 - Mountains
Detection and attribution of impacts in mountains to climate change;
Terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their services;
Water: Observed and projected hydrological changes on basin and watershed scales and water related hazards including floods, droughts and landslides;
Water: Adaptation responses including cooperation in different climatic zones to water security risks with co-benefits for sustainable development including consideration of impacts of adaptation and mitigation responses;
Food, fibre, and other ecosystem products;
Cities, settlements and key infrastructure;
Health, wellbeing and the changing structure of communities, including habitability and migration;
Poverty, livelihoods and sustainable development.
Key risks and decision-making (including risk perception);
Climate resilient development pathways.
This repository will remain open for contribitions until 1 May 2021 (cut-off date for accepted papers for publication in a journal). For questions regarding this repository, please conctact firstname.lastname@example.org
