The workshops and the European Championship will be conducted by Dr. phil. Dr. paed. Gert Mittring, Bonn. Dr. Mittring will be supported by Mr Pascal Kaul and other experts. The responsibility for the championship lies with Dr. Dr. Mittring. The Elternverein Hochbegabter Kinder (Swiss Association for the Parents of Gifted Children – EHK), assists in the organization of the event.
The workshops will be conducted in English and German.
The deadline for application is 1 March 2020. The number of places is limited. All those who have registered will be informed by the end of March whether they will be able to participate. Depending on the donations to support the event, the maximum number of participants is about 60. If the capacity limit is exceeded, the organisation team decides on the participation. For this reason, participation in previous competitions in mental arithmetic and other mental sports disciplines should be noted when registering.
The participation fee is CHF 100 and includes meals (lunch, snacks), participation in the workshops on Thursday and Friday, as well as participation in the championship. The participation fee is due after confirmation of registration and is be transferred to the following account within two weeks of confirmation: Elternverein für hochbegabte Kinder), Therwil IBAN CH47 0900 0000 8003 6608 8 (purpose: EM 2020 participation).
We would like to make it possible for students with a great interest in mental calculation to participate even if they cannot afford the participation fee and/or the trip to Basel and ask them to contact the EHK (firstname.lastname@example.org). The organiser will make every effort to reduce the amount based on donations received.
Participants who are minors must be accompanied by an adult authorised by their legal guardian.The duty for the supervision of underaged participants rests with the legal guardian or the accompanying person appointed by him. The organisers do not act in loco parentes.
Participation in the event, the workshops and the championship, as well as travel to and from the event location is at the participants' own risk.
The participants and their legal guardians as well as the respective adult accompanying person are informed that a generally good state of health and sufficient physical condition must be present for participation in the competition and the entire programme.
The organisers are not liable for any damage whatsoever caused by the participant or an accompanying person to the property of third parties and/or third persons during the event.
In all cases of contractual and non-contractual liability, the organisers shall not be liable for damages.
Please remember to take out adequate insurance in the event of accidents and in the event of cancellation.
Each participant is responsible for organising and paying for his or her accommodation. Please book early.
