    Principal investigator/project leader is responsible for ensuring that all participants have read the relevant documents for the station and are aware of the permits and conditional requirements regarding access. He/she is also responsible for providing a detailed research plan/project description and an end of project report. Rif Field Station is not responsible for the safety of those using the station’s facilities or research area.     Please indicate wheather you request logistical assistance from RFS related to your field visit, accommodation or research facilities.

    Note that RFS cannot generally not assist with transportation to Raufarhöfn or to and from field sites. Please familiarise yourself with the facilities and options available at RFS before filling this out.


  • For those who request meals provided by Rif Field Station

    RFS arranges meals for visiting scientists in collaboration with the local café Kaupfélagið. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be provided at the café, or optionally pack lunch for the field.

    Additional information

    Pack lunch can include:

    1. One sandwich + two slices of Icelandic flatbread with smoked lamb meat (or vegetarian alternative), chocolate bar and thermos with coffee or tea.
    2. Two sandwiches, chocolate bar and thermos with coffee or tea.

    Additional drinks, e.g. fruit juice or cocoa milk, can be added to pack lunch upon request. Please specify before arrival at the station.

    Note: Visitors should bring their own water to the field (all tap water in the area is perfectly safe for drinking so just need to fill up your bottle!).
