For one week each year the Vienna Boylesque Festival will deliver world-class progressive performance art from burlesque artists, drag artists, dancers, and beyond to an international audience in Vienna. Through expression, exploration and discussion it will help forward positive attitudes to bodies, sex, and gender across Austria, Europe, and the World. The Festival is proud to call Vienna it's home and will work with the city, community organisations and companies to deliver cultural and economic benefits to the region.
Application form
The application form for the Vienna Boylesque Festival is free of charge. At the end of the form you will find a “donation button“. In lieu of an application fee, we kindly ask for an optional donation so that we can continue to present the pick of the glitter at the festival and produce a fantastic show for performers as well as guests. A donation is not mandatory, but we would be very grateful for whatever you are able to give.

Terms & Conditions:
Video footage
- Video is mandatory: Please note that your application has to have video footage. Without visual material of your act we can't evaluate your magic hennie!
- Quantaty of Acts: If you are performing more than 1-2 years, your application must include two different video links to footage of the acts you wish to perform.* If you are accepted to perform at the festival you will perform one out of the two acts you've submitted.
*Exception: Newcomers with only one act, are allowed to submit that one act only; just copy the video link twice into the “video link field“. But please note, that the act you submit better be a damn good one!
-
Quality of the Video: You will not be evaluated on the quality of your video, meaning sound, lighting, editing, etc., but your video should still reflect your stage persona at its best and highlight your act in terms of what makes notably your act special. That said, please ensure that we can see your face properly during your act, because if the lighting is so bright that we can’t even see your facial expressions or half of your routine is hidden behind an audience member’s head or the audience is screaming the whole way through your act, so we can't hear the music or the camerawork is shaky or filmed from far away ... we can't properly evaluate how awesome you or your act might be. Brief, make sure it meets basic reasonable watchability standards.
-
Link to the Video: All video submissions will be via an online link that is included in the application. We accept YouTube or Vimeo links only!
Nonworking video links: Video links of your performance footage are essential to the application process, so please choose and type/copy them carefully and double-check it for accuracy. Make sure that the link itself works and that the music in your video footage due to copyright in certain countries works as well. Submitted video links set on “private“ or non functional links, cannot be taken into consideration and therefore won't be evaluated!
If you want your video to be viewable by the selection team but not viewable or searchable by the public, most video-upload sites have a setting that allows this.
On YouTube, it is called "viewable only by people who have the URL." Your online video should be publicly viewable without any login, password, or any other restrictions.
On Vimeo, it's called “share a video through a private link“. Choose “only people with the pirvate link“ option, to not make it viewable or searchable by the public.
- Time limit of the Video: Please note that there is a very strict time limit for acts! Solo/ duo and group acts should not exceed 5:30 minutes. There is no exception to this rule! The maximum time you have on stage really is 5:30 minutes, acts that are longer than 5:30 minutes will automatically not be taken into consideration.
-
Completeness of the Video: Please only submit a full-lenght version of your act, avoid submitting teaser videos, which are only highliting parts of your (full) act. This way the Selection team can't really evaluate your act properly and you risk getting lower scores and further migth end up having lower scores overall compared to other performers and being tured down for the festival.
- Videography: By appearing in one of the "Vienna Boylesque Festival" shows you agree to being filmed on stage without making any claims on the material or how your act is going to be filmed.
