TERMS & CONDITIONS
Introduction
The following terms and conditions represent the basis upon which driving lessons and/or courses are offered to you by Driving Forward.
1. General Conduct
The instructor will be:
- bound by a professional code of conduct
- courteous and polite
- punctual
- behave in an ethical manner
The car will be:
- fully insured
- well maintained
- dual controlled
- clean and tidy
- a non-smoking environment
2. Qualifications
The instructor will be:
- fully qualified and licensed by the DVSA to give driving tuition
3. Driving Licence and Eyesight
The pupil must:
- hold a current and valid driving licence (provisional or full)
- produce the licence on/in advance of the first lesson
- be able to read a number plate at a distance of no less than 20.5 metres (67 feet) without or with glasses/contact lenses if normally worn
The instructor may ask to view online driving licence information to:
- view the pupil's driving record
- check for penalty points and/or disqualifications
4. Payments, Bookings and Cancellations
Accepted methods of payment:
- e-Gift card
- Debit or credit card
- BACS
Bookings:
- can be agreed during lessons, by phone, text or email
- an automated reminder text will be sent to the pupil 24hrs before the appointment
Cancellations:
- a minimum of 24 hours notice required
- a charge will be made in full for short notice cancellations for the period in question
- new bookings will not be made until payment for a cancellation is received
- the instructor reserves the right to postpone lessons if they feel that the weather/road conditions are unsuitable/dangerous
- postponed lessons will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time
- the instructor will not be held responsible for losses incurred due to lesson postponement, for whatever reason
5. Intensive Courses
- payments must be made in advance of the training
- a 50% deposit or full course fee (if the start date is within 4 weeks of the booking date) is required
- once the booking has been accepted and booked into the diary the deposit or any subsequent fees paid are non refundable in the event that the pupil decides to cancel the training
6. Driving Under the Influence
To ensure the safety of the pupil, instructor and other road users the instructor has the right to:
- cancel any lesson if the pupil is suspected of being under the influence or drugs and/or alcohol
- charge in full for the cancellation for the period in question
7. Driving Test Bookings, Use of Vehicle and Test Cancellations
Driving test bookings:
- can be booked by you or the instructor for a mutually convenient date and time
- driving tests always take priority over driving lessons
- a driving lesson may be postponed at short notice to accommodate a driving test
- notice of postponement will be made immediately or as soon as is conveniently possible
- driving test bookings must be notified to the instructor as soon as they are known, otherwise the vehicle cannot be guaranteed for the test
Use of vehicle:
- a £60 car hire payment is required for each driving test
- the instructor will confirm when a pupil is at a standard suitable for test
- the instructor reserves the right to withhold use of the car for test if, in their opinion, the pupils driving is potentially/actually dangerous
- under these circumstances the pupil will be required to source another vehicle
Test cancellations:
- the DVSA require 3 working days notice to cancel or amend a test booking
- failure to do so will result in a loss of the test fee
- the instructor cannot be held responsible for any postponement/cancellation of test(s) by the pupil or the DVSA
- the instructor will assist as far as is possible to rebook and/or help reclaim expenses from the DVSA
8. Punctuality
- the pupil is advised to be punctual for a lesson
- the instructor will wait for a maximum of 15 minutes before abandoning the lesson and the lesson fee forfeited or becomes due for payment
- a reciprocal time may become necessary if the instructor is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances
- the instructor will endeavour to fulfil the agreed lesson duration immediately or at a mutually agreed later date
9. Pupil Comfort and Safety
The pupil must:
- ensure that suitable footwear and clothing is worn that does not restrict movement and use of the controls in the correct manner
- inform the instructor of any medication that may affect their ability to drive safely
