Introduction

Team London is working with London Plus to offer grants to support reward and recognition of volunteering at a local level in London.

Volunteers make an immense contribution to community life in London. We want London to continue to be a capital of volunteering and for the benefits that volutneering brings, to communities and individuals, to be open to all. Reward and recognition of volunteering can help volunteers to feel valued for the time they give and can also raise the profile of volunteering.    

To celebrate National Volunteers' Week we have a sum of £20,000 to give in small grants of £500 - £1000 to organisations to develop additional activities around reward and recognition of volunteering in their locality throughout June 2019. 

Please note, we expect to have a high volume of applications. If this is the case we will not be able to support all applications. 

Purpose of these grants:

• To increase reward and recognition of volunteering across London
• To identify and explore different ways that reward and recognition can be used at a local level
• To raise the profile of volunteering locally
• To encourage people who haven't volunteered before to take part    

Who is this for?  

We are looking for applications from 2nd tier organisations that have a wide reach to civil society organisations and volunteers in their local communities such as:

• Local networks
• Volunteer Centres
• Multi-purpose community organisations
• Volunteer Hubs / Community Hubs   

We also encourage partnership working when applying for this grant.

What would we like to see:

We want to hear from you! We want your ideas about reward and recognition events or activities that can take place during or after National Volunteers Week. We would like to see ideas that add to the landscape of what is already on offer for volunteers in your locality and that have a wide reach. 

We would like to see events or activities that:   

• Bring people together
• Acknowledge the contribution of volunteers
• Celebrate the different kinds of volunteering and different volunteers in your community
• Raises the profile of volunteering locally

Please note, this programme is going to be evaluated and we require all successful grant recipients to complete a monitoring form, which we will send with your grant offer. The evaluation will help us to shape all future work we might take forward on reward and recognition of volunteers.
